For most, the last date you can lodge your individual tax return through Taxpro Australia is 15 May 2021 without incurring any penalty from the ATO. If you have not lodged your return yet, please contact your Taxpro accountant to book an appointment or to schedule a telephone interview at your earliest convenience. We do become very busy in the lead up to this deadline, so please book in early.
With just over one month until the deadline, it’s time to get all your financial information in order for the 19/20 financial year (1 July 2019 – 30 June 2020).

Did you work from home during the Covid-19 lockdowns?
If you worked from home for a period of time over the 19/20 financial year, remember to include your extra expenses:
- The use of equipment – computer
- Utilities – electricity, heating and cooling, cleaning
- Phone and Internet usage
- Stationary costs – printer ink, paper
You can claim a fixed rate of 52 cents per hour you worked from home. You will need to have kept records for a 4-week period in the income year if you want to claim deductions over $50, including diary evidence of hours worked, receipts for work purchases and telephone/internet bills.
